Recently I picked up "The Simpsons Handbook," a rather mind-bogglingly comprehensive How-To-Draw-The-Simpsons book. Thus, these four heads were spawned.
Homer: First one I drew, using the big mechanical pencil I've been using the past few months. Entirely freehanded, which probably wasn't the smartest move, given how hard it is for me to freehand a circle (the major component of any Simpsons character), but I'm over all pleased with it.
Marge: Second drawing, using the same pencil with a circle template. Given the thickness and roundness of the lead, this was also a mistake. (As you can clearly see by the incomplete necklace.) Her hair looks pretty stiff, too...
Bart: By this point, I decided to switch to a colored art pencil. This did not stop me from totally screwing up the proportions here. Urgh.
Lisa: Now this one I'm happy with. I think her eyes might be a smidge too big, though...
I've been thinking about picking up a copy of that book! Might be a big waste of money for me, though, as I don't draw very often...
As for the sketches, Homer looks pretty good, although bit chubby in the face. Marge and Bart both look a little skinny. Lisa's right on model though. Good stuff!
